101st Day of 1st Grade!

Hi friends!

We celebrated the 101st day of 1st grade today! When I taught Kindergarten, we ROCKED IT OUT on the 100th day with {it felt like} 100 activities all day long! When I looped up to first grade, I searched high and low for some different ideas...we came up with 101 Dalmatians! So super fun!

Here are some of the fun activities we did today:

~ We asked families to help their child decorate a white t-shirt with 101 black spots!

~ We made a black headband with puppy ears!

~ I painted their cute little noses black!

~ We made a presh dalmatian craft where the kiddos make 10 sets of 10 black spots...and one more for 101!

~ We made Puppy Chow for a special {DELISH} snack!

~ They completed a 101st day writing activity {HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!}

Click {HERE} to download a FREE teeny tiny unit that includes a parent letter, the Puppy Chow recipe, the 101st writing printable, and a picture of the dalmatian craft! :)

PS....Anyone have a favorite blogging software that is compatible with a Mac? I used Windows Live Writer with our HP and LOVED it {thanks to Cara's recommendation!} I am SO SAD that Live Writer is not compatible with a Mac...but not sad enough to give up my new laptop! Ha! :) If you blog on a PC, I LOVED Live Writer...it is so amazing and it makes uploading pictures SO. MUCH. EASIER!!! :) Let me know if you have a good software for Mac!!!!

I loved doing the 101st day of school this year too! Being in Kinder, we actually did both. It worked out so well because it was a Friday and we had earned a pizza party! Check out my new blog and blog post to see if I have any ideas you could use next year!

I use Power Point and Pages with my Mac but don't really love using either one. I find that Power Point can be finicky and you really have to know your stuff when using Pages. Hopefully someone can suggest a better software but in the meantime these should hold you over! Thanks for the freebie! What a cute activity to do when you look with a class!

Hi Kelli,

Saw your post and linked to my blog with pictures from several years ago. We celebrated the 101st day of school and had a blast.

I just bought a mac and use pages. I too have a hard time giving up my PC. Using the ThinkPad now. When I have more time to play with my new puter... I will probably give up the PC forever. =)

Have a fabulous night.

My little girl's school did 100 and 101. Either way I wish we had done something in 2nd grade. It looked like such a blast.

Love the 101st day of school...especially after the '100' activities it feels like we do on the 100th day. We always watch 101 Dalmations, as a break for us and kiddos. Love your site btw! :)

I love this idea! My class theme is dogs/puppies. We actually dressed up as the 101 Dalmatians for our Literacy Parade on Halloween! Too cute! I like the idea of 101 spots on the shirts. Thanks for giving us a freebie! I will definitely be using it!! :) ~Heidi V.
